Orientation measures how far a course engages students with consequential problems — derived from each CO's Washington-Accord profile, weighted toward the descriptors that encode consequence. It is a potential measure: outcome-attainment is a proxy that can be optimised without improving realized impact, so this index never claims realized impact. All impact figures in this tool are computed from the weights and formulas below — nothing is hand-entered. This section is the authoritative reference: the consequence-weights, strength scale, category tag-weights, status thresholds, orientation bands, and every formula with a worked example. The values shown here are pulled from the same data the calculations use, so they cannot drift out of sync.
